Case Study: How Intertech Helped a Mortgage Services Firm Migrate Their Customer Service Application from a Third Party to In-House
by Tom Helvick
From time to time, we like to share case studies of what we’ve been working on here at Intertech. It gives insight into the type of work we do, what you can expect if you work with Intertech to solve your software needs, and what it’s like to work as a consultant for Intertech on challenging projects.
In our most recent case study, we take a look at the work Intertech has done for a mortgage services firm looking to move their applications from a third-party development agency to an in-house engineering team.
Building Institutional Knowledge
While the client technically paid for and owns the code behind their web portals, the institutional knowledge about how those portals operate lies outside the company, with the third-party development agency. With the client’s decision to move in-house, the third-party team has no incentive to help themselves out of a job. This lack of collaboration and need to rebuild institutional knowledge led the client to engage an experienced technical partner to make sure the transition goes smoothly.
A Technology Partner
Since Intertech has played such a key role in the transition, our consultants have come to be a stand-in for technical leadership within the organization. Strategic guidance, training and mentorship for engineers, and technical implementation decisions all have come from Intertech consultants at times. As a result, Intertech is an integral part of the client’s technical capabilities and a trusted partner and advocate for technical decisions.
